ICE USA 2013 Announces
Three Keynote Presentations
Two authorities in the packaging industry will pre-
sent three thought-provoking keynote presentations
to launch each day of the ICE USA 2013 Exhibition in
Orlando, Florida,April 9-11.
Paul Gaster, Director of Flexible Packaging at PCI
Films Consulting Ltd., will kick off the Keynote Pre-
sentations on Tuesday,April 9, with a presentation en-
titled
Opportunities and Threats In The Global
Flexible Packaging Market
.
With more than 35 years
experience in the packaging industry, Gaster co-edits
PCI’s European Flexible Packaging andWorld Flexible
Packaging Trends quarterly reports and has authored
many flexible packaging multi-client studies.
He will also deliver the wrap up keynote, on Thurs-
day morning with another insightful industry outlook
presentation entitled
BOPET and BOPP Film Trends
to 2016
.
On Wednesday morning, Thomas Blaige, Chairman
and CEO of Blaige & Company, will address the finan-
cial outlook for the packaging industry during his
keynote presentation entitled
Merger and Acquisi-
tion Trends in the Converting Industry
.

dedicated exclusively to the packaging, plastics and
chemicals operations in 40 countries. He and his team
of transaction and operations experts have visited
more than 400 plastics, packaging, and chemicals op-
erations worldwide and the company’s proprietary re-

plastics industry M&A transactions annually. The
keynote sessions take place from 9:00–10:00 am.

Phoenix Challenge
To Commence In March
The Phoenix Challenge Foundation (PCF) will hold
its annual International High School Flexographic
Skills Competition in Charlotte, North Carolina,
March 6th-8th, at Central Piedmont Community Col-
lege Harper Campus. This high school competition
sets the stage for young flexographers to compete
with each other, showcasing their knowledge of
flexo printing and graphic arts.
The 2-1/2 day competition includes five areas of
testing: (1) operating a flexo press, (2) prepress, (3)
plate making, (4) written knowledge, and (5) flexo
math skills. The 1st place team will be awarded
medals, and their school will receive a plaque to dis-
play. Additionally, they will each receive a $1,000
scholarship along with the “Harper Cup” to display at
their school for one year.
