Becoming Certified:
SGP Launches Campaign
To TakeAction

ustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP), a non-profit
organization providing sustainability certification in the
graphic communications industry, has launched a new out-
reach campaign, “Take Action.” The campaign will encourage
members of the graphic communications industry — printers,
print buyers, suppliers, and others — to take action by getting
involved with SGP and reaping the benefits of certification and
The “Take Action” campaign has several goals to achieve by
early the first quarter of 2013.These include: 1) raising the num-
ber of SGP certified applicants; 2) increasing the number of print
buyers that preference SGP cer-
tified printers; 3) increasing the
number of suppliers that spon-
sor SGP; and 4) significantly
raising the number of organiza-
tions and individuals on SGP’s
mailing list.Toward this end, the “Take Action” campaign will in-
volve outreach via email, social networking, print, and traditional
one-to-one phone calls with its target audience.
SGP certification does more than just help companies be-
come good stewards for the environment, it significantly im-
proves a business’s value and its bottom line,” said Heidi
Thompson, SGP’s “Take Action” campaign leader.“We are putting
SGP and sustainability in front everyday businesses, and through
that effort will share the many benefits that SGP offers.”
SGP Partnership was formed to provide a benchmark for sus-
tainability in the graphic communications industry. Before its

Attracts Record Attendance
Labelexpo Americas 2012 attracted
a record attendance of 14,335 label
and package printing professionals
as it returned to the Donald E.
Stephens Convention Center, Rose-
mont, Illinois near Chicago, Septem-
ber 11-13. Up by more than 12
percent on 2010’s edition, it was a
new record for the label converting
show since first being held in 1989.

TLMI Reports Surge
In Memberships
TLMI (Tag & Label Manufacturers
Institute) has announced a surge in
the association’s member ship
growth for the first, second and third
quarters of 2012. Over the course of
the past nine months 35 new mem-
ber companies have joined TLMI,
creating one of the largest single-
year growth expansion in the associ-
ation’s history. The new members
include 15 converting companies
and 20 suppliers, one of which is an
international supplier member.
