ColorDrive Allows
For Brand Color Matching
ColorDrive, reportedly the industry’s first cloud-
based, print-quality management platform, has been
launched by Schawk, Inc., Chicago, Illinois.
ColorDrive is the first product of its kind, according
to the manufacturer, to align measured and calibrated
visual scores throughout the packaging development
supply chain process.
This allows marketers to objectively measure the
success of meeting a brand’s color standards accu-
rately and consistently on packaging by formalizing,
simplifying and integrating quantitative and qualita-
tive color measures.
ColorDrive allows brand owners, premedia partners
and printers to communicate about color using the
same technical language to convert visual assess-
ments into numbers.
By calibrating subjective evaluations in this manner,
ColorDrive enables these specialists to synchronize
color performance goals.

New Technology Converts
Flexo Inks To Rotary Screen
For printers who run both UV flexo and UV rotary
screen, Flint Group introduces Flex2Screen
technol-
ogy, where converters can convert Flint Group Flex-
ocure FORCE
,
UV flexo inks, into UV rotary screen
inks. Printers can lower ink inventory and create UV
screen colors as needed, when needed, in their own
print shops.
This concept has been thoroughly tested and re-
sults reportedly show that robust screen inks can be
achieved by combining UV flexo ink with the spe-
cially engineered technology varnish to satisfy just-in-
time print operations.
Flex2Screen
will contain silicone, making this
comparable to Flint Group’s Uvoscreen
product
lines. In addition, Flint has introduced PamioStar
,
a
series of solvent flexo surface whites, and OmniLam
PT, a new series of solvent flexo lamination whites
for the North American Flexible Packaging Market.
Both series of inks are said to provide good opacity,
gloss, and print characteristics.
