CCL Acquires Scottish
Label Converter
CCL, Framingham, Massachusetts, has agreed to ac-
quire JohnWatson & Co. Ltd., a privately owned label
converter located in Glasgow, Scotland with estimat-
ed sales of approximately 12 million pounds. The
transaction is subject to contract, with terms based
on the financial performance of John Watson & Co.
for calendar year 2013. Specific details will be dis-
closed following completion of the planned transac-
tion in early 2014.
In the interim period, the two companies will coop-
erate to serve common customers and leverage com-
bined supplier relationships. This coordination will
be led by Guenther Birkner, President, Food & Bever-
age Worldwide, together with the management teams
of John Watson & Co. and CCL Label Wine & Spirits
business units. John Watson, whose family has owned
the shares of the company since inception, will re-
main associated with the business in an advisory ca-
pacity. Robert McLachlan and Allan McDonnell will
enter into continuing employment agreements as
joint Managing Directors.The acquired company will
change its trading name to CCL Label and become a
part of the global Wine & Spirits network.

Clemson University's Sonoco Institute of Packaging
Design and Graphics is offering a hands-on Introduction
To Flexography workshop, December 11-14, that will
explain the principles of flexography in a way everyone
can understand and apply to their environment.
This workshop is designed for those new to the flex-
ographic printing process or those needing a refresher
course.This workshop builds a solid foundation of the
principles behind flexography through a hands-on ap-
proach with the entire process. Participants in the
flexo workshop will develop a working knowledge of
flexography from design concept, technical artwork
preparation, platemaking to pressroom production

Vietnam Distribution Center
UPM Raflatac has opened a new labelstock slitting
and distribution terminal in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet-
nam. The terminal began operations in November
and will supply both film and paper label materials to
customers in Vietnam.
